Robinson takes second as Builders finish tied for tenth at NCWA Nationals


LAKELAND, FLA. - Freshman Charles Robinson lost his championship match at 184 pounds to lead three National Collegiate Wrestling Association All-Americans for the Apprentice School as they finished tied for tenth out of 75 teams in the 2008 Nationals on Saturday.

Robinson received a bye in the first round and won three in a row before falling to Brendan Lund of Kansas State in the finals by fall.  He ended his freshman season with a 25-9 record.

Senior Justin Gilliard ended his career a three-time All-American as he finished fourth at 165 pounds.  The Virginia Beach native went 4-2 in the event and ended his senior season with a team best 34 wins.  He also ended his career tied with teammate Eric Lybarger for third place on the modern era career wins list with 92.

Freshman Thad Lloyd took fifth place at 184 pounds to earn his first All-American honor.  He finished 4-2 in the tournament scoring victories by decision, major decision, technical fall and one by pin.
