Freshman Marcus Chevres and senior Cecil Lee took fourth place
at 133 and 285 pounds respectively as the Apprentice School
competed on Saturday in the Ed South Tournament hosted by
Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
Chevres won his first match over Bryan Waller of Cumberland
University in an 8-2 decision before falling to Andrew Young of
Newberry College in the second round. In the consolation
rounds he won three bouts before losing 17-15 in the third-place
match to Tyler Voth of Campbellsville.
Lee advanced to the semifinals at heavyweight recording a major
decision 12-4 victory over chad Brown of Campbelsville and won by
a pin in 4:25 over Corey Chaffin of the University of
Cumberlands to advance to the semis where he lost to Chuck Robinson
of the host school. He earned a win in the consolation round
before losing 2-1 to David Coffey of Campbellsville for third
place.
Will Harcum was 3-2 at 165 pounds and Ricky Anderson was 2-2 at
149 for the Builders other multiple-match winners in the tournament
that consisted of a majority of NCAA Division II
schools. The Builders finished seventh out of 12 teams.
