Wrestlers Share Second After Session Three Of 2009 NCWA Nationals

 

HAMPTON, VA. - The Apprentice School wrestling team currently sits in second place with Marion Military Institute after session three of the 2009 National Collegiate Wrestling Association National Championships held at Hampton University Convocation Center on Friday.

The Builders and MMI have 38.5 points to trail perennial champion Grand Valley State University who has 42.5 points.  Friday's first session was the second round of consolations, while the championship quarterfinals are scheduled to start at 5 pm today.

Four of the six Builder wrestlers won their first consolation matchups on Friday with sophomore Daniel Hare (184 lbs.) along with freshmen Ricky Anderson (141 lbs) and Will Sexton (133 lbs.) winning by fall.  Freshman Todd Gular (125 lbs.) won his consolation match by forfeit.

Six Apprentice School wrestlers will compete in Friday night's quarterfinal round: freshman Marcus Chevres (133 lbs.), junior Matt Perry (149 lbs.), senior Ty Holley (141 lbs.), sophomore Will Harcum (165 lbs.), freshman Charles Mills (174 lbs.) and senior Cecil Lee (285 lbs.)
