ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Apprentice School wrestling team concluded its weekend stay in Orlando, Florida on Saturday by finishing second out of 14 teams in the University of Central Florida open. Central Florida won the event with 78 points, followed by the Builders (70), Marion Military Institute (63) and Darton College (62).
Three Builders took first place in their weight classes. Senior Ty Holley won the 141 pound class going 3-0 on the day with a pin and a major decision. In the championship match he decisioned Kendall Albert of Kennesaw State University 6-3.
Senior Matt Perry won the 157 pound weight class going 3-0 with a pinfall victory on the day. The Chesapeake, Va. native defeated Jay Mitchell of Marion Military Institute 3-1 in the finals.
Fellow senior Will Harcum went 4-0 with three pinfall victories to take the 174 pound weight class and raise his record to 9-0 on the year. The Williamsburg, Va. native won the title by an injury default as Ross Cravens of Kennesaw State couldn't wrestle in the championship match.
Sophomore LA Colon took second place at 235 pounds, while sophomores Marcus Chevres (133 pounds), Will Sexton (141) and freshman Patrick McIntosh (157) all took third place.
Next up for the Builders will be the Ursinus College Fall Brawl in Collegeville, Pa. on Saturday, November 14.
