Spruill Named USCAA Wrestler Of The Week

Sophomore Kyle Spruill was honored on Wednesday as the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week for his efforts in the UMBC Duals on Dec. 11.

Spruill, a sophomore sheet metal apprentice from Williamsburg, Va., went 4-1 in the UMBC Duals as the Builders took the team title.  His only loss came against the Maryland State Champion at 149 pounds in the Builders loss to University of Maryland Baltimore County.  He had wins against Williamson Trade (8-4 decision), West Chester University (7-1 decision), University of Delaware (by fall in 2:38) and Penn State New Kensington (4-2 decision).

Spruill is the third Builder to win the honor from the USCAA as Marcus Chevres (twice) and Ricky Anderson were previous recipients.

The Builders will close out the 2010 portion of their schedule on Saturday at Lynchburg College in a 4 pm dual match with the Hornets.
