BELLEFONTE, PA. – The Apprentice School wrestling team jumped out to a 24-0 advantage after four matches and rolled to a 50-9 win over Penn State DuBois in a U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association contest on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Ty Ford opened the dual at 125 pounds winning by fall in 1:57. Senior Marcus Chevres followed with a win by a tech fall at 133 pounds scoring a 16-1 decision to put the Builders up 11-0. Freshman Dwayne Roes won at 141 pounds (4:45) to take an 17-0 lead. The Builders won by forfeit at 149 pounds to lead 23-0.
After a decision loss at 157, the Builders won the next three bouts by fall as Will Sexton won at 165 (4:41), Anthony Damico at 174 (6:33) and Justin Martz at 184 (4:50) to take a 41-3 lead. DuBois took a forfeit victory at 197 before Kevin Gray pulled a 3-0 decision for the only three-point win for the Builders all day to push the lead to 44-9. Freshman Ian Jones won by forfeit at heavyweight for the 50-9 final.
The Builders now go to State College, PA on Sunday to compete in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association National Invitational at Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State University.
