Builders Finish Second In VaSID All-Sports Survey - Best Finish Ever
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – The Apprentice School Athletic Department earned an honor on Thursday from the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association as the Builders finished second in the VaSID All-Sports College Division Survey.
This survey ranked the overall winning percentages of the 28 non-NCAA Division I schools in the state. The second place finish is the best ever for the Builders, topping the third place showing in 2001-02.
On the men's side, the Builders finished third sporting a 76-52 overall record (59.4%). They trailed Christopher Newport (73.4%) and Lynchburg College (62.3%). This marks the best ever finish on the men's side, ahead of a fourth place showing in 2001-02 and again in 2002-03.
For the women, the Lady Builders season of 23-4 gave them the highest winning percentage in the state at 85.2%. Trailing them was Christopher Newport University (75.3%) and Washington & Lee University (67.8%). This marked the third time since 2000-01 that the Lady Builders had the best winning percentage in the state, along with 2000-01 and 2001-02.
Christopher Newport University won the survey for the fourth straight year, and the eighth in the last 12, winning 74.3% of its contests.
