Sterling Briscoe Named USCAA Wrestler Of The Week

Apprentice School sophomore Sterling Briscoe was named on Tuesday as the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week for the week ending November 18.

Briscoe, a sophomore pipefitter apprentice from Virginia Beach, VA, went 7-1 on the week as the Builders went 2-0 in dual matches and finished fourth in a tournament hosted by the University of Central Florida.

After winning his dual match on Friday night by a major decision, Briscoe stumbled in his first match of the tournament losing to the eventual runner-up from NCAA Division II UNC Pembroke.  Once in the consolation bracket he went on a spree winning six straight matches – two by fall, two by tech fall and a major decision in the third place match.

For the year, he leads the team in wins (13) and is second in falls with six as the Apprentice School us 6-1 in dual matches.

The Builders are now off until December 1 when they participate in the York College (PA) Spartan Invitational.
