Wrestling Finish UMBC Duals With 3-1 Record

The Builders took advantage of a shortened Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute squad claiming six wins by forfeit along with a pair of decision victories to win 42-18 in the opening match.  Freshman Kenneth Lowry scored a 7-5 decision at 174 and fellow freshman Joshua Rodriguez won 9-2 at 197 pounds to give the Builders the final margin.

Trailing 18-10 heading into the last three matches, the Builders scored decisions at 197 by Josh Rodriguez and at heavyweight by Ian Jones and scored a six point win by injury default at 184 to take a 22-18 win over 15th-ranked National Junior College Athletic Association member Gloucester County College of New Jersey.

A late rally by the Builders fell short against the host Retrievers losing 26-22. Justin Martz (184), Kevin Gray (235) and Ian Jones (285) won by fall in the final four bouts but the the comeback attempt fell short.
