Wrestling Team Visits UMBC Retriever Duals Friday

The wrestling team will close out the 2014 portion of their schedule on Friday evening as they travel to Baltimore, Md. to participate in the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retriever Duals.

The event will start at 6pm as the Builders will face the U.S. Naval Academy Prep School in the second all-time meeting between the teams.  Apprentice School won the first matchup in the 2011 UMBC Duals 42-12.

So far a pair of freshmen lead the U.S. Navy Prep squad as Nicholas Gill is 10-3 at 149 pounds, while Adam Connell is 10-4 at 141.  A third freshman is right behind them as Daniel Hawkins is 9-1 at 184 pounds.  As a team, they are 1-0 in dual matches scoring a 26-15 win over the U.S. Military Academy Prep squad on December 6.

After that match, the Builders will take on Rowan University at 7 pm and then Towson at 9pm.  This will be the first competition of the year for both teams.

Apprentice School is 10-0 in dual matches this year and have a pair of 14-match winners thus far in senior Ian Jones at heavyweight (14-3) and junior Josh Rodriguez at 197 pounds (14-4).  Four more are close behind with 11 wins.
